Plagiarism detection policy

The Plagiarism Detection Policy is part of the RYD Journal Code of Ethics.

At the beginning of the evaluation process of the articles received by RYD journal, the editors carry out a similarity check, in order to detect possible situations of plagiarism or self-plagiarism. The control is carried out with the Plagium © tool.

Upon alert, the editors carry out a personalized analysis of the documents with which the manuscript is similar. If it is verified that the author has committed plagiarism or self-plagiarism, the editors will evaluate the degree of seriousness of the case and document the evidence of plagiarism to then proceed according to COPE guidelines in case of detected plagiarism.

RYD Magazine considers, according to COPE, three degrees of similarity:

• Clear plagiarism
• Redundancy or self-plagiarism
• Minor copies by mistake

In all three cases, the journal communicates with the person responsible for sending the manuscript; in cases of redundancy, it proceeds according to the procedure recommended by COPE. In the case of minor copies, we seek to correct the problem to proceed with sending it for evaluation.

In case of clear plagiarism, the submission is rejected and the researcher's employers or funders are informed.
