In Although populism remains as a marginal concept in political studies, one can not deny the interest that it has awakened on several scholars all around the world, through all the 20th century and currently. Even when a definition has been elusive and approaches differ greatly on their judgment we believe the discussion has been far from idle. On the one hand through this polemic a peculiar field has come to be; with its historical debates, its attempts to forge categories or to discredit them, the studies about populism have risen a horizon of their own. On the other hand discussing populism, a term as conflicting as it is, keeps bringing us the opportunity to reflect on other notions as crucial to politics as democracy, republic, emancipation, authoritarianism, representation and others.
