A través del presente artículo se comenta la importancia de una sentencia del Tribunal Constitucional del Perú (Exp. N° 889–2017–PA) en la cual se protegen los derechos lingü.sticos de una ciudadana que habla el Quechua, un idioma originario de dicho país, en su relación con la administración pública. Además, se pretende evidenciar la discriminación estructural a la que se ven expuestos quienes no dominan el idioma español en las zonas donde predomina un idioma originario.
Through this article, we comment on the importance of a sentence of the Constitutional Court of Peru (Exp. N° 889–2017–PA) in which the linguistic rights of a citizen who speaks Quechua, a native language of mentioned country, is protected, within the realm of public administration. In addition, it aims to depict the structural discrimination suffered by those who do not master the Spanish language in areas where a native language predominates.
