Hannah Arendt. La libertad como “hecho mundano”

Este artículo indaga la cuestión de la libertad en la obra de Hannah Arendt. La autora la identifica en contrapunto con dos nociones prevalecientes. La libertad política difiere del enfoque filosófico tradicional: la libertad es una cualidad de la voluntad, mediante la cual se determina frente a los bienes finitos. Asimismo, discierne entre libertad política y libertades negativas, garantías o franquicias. La primera es la capacidad de acción; las segundas, estrategias de control. Arendt sostiene que la libertad política no es un fenómeno internalizado sino un hecho mundano, es decir, un acontecimiento visible y audible, digno de elogio o censura, merecedor de recuerdo. En consecuencia, la síntesis acción, performance y libertad merece examinarse para comprender rigurosamente su noción de “libertad”. Como Arendt sugiere, dicha libertad mundana es compatible con el concepto maquiaveliano de virtù, asociado a la gloria de la acción pública.
